The Intercitymaterieel (ICM) is designed for transporting passengers all around the Dutch Intercity network, with a top speed of 160km/h. Talbot in Aken delivered the first of seven test units in 1977 (ICM-0, 4001-4007). The original ICM-0 was used for a couple of years of testing with and without passengers. The third and fourth re-orders were also sent to Talbot, although the fourth set of units was actually built in conjunction with Deuwag. The fourth series carry the numbers 4231 to 4250, and the first unit was delivered in January 1993.
