The NS1200, built by Werkspoor, is an American Baldwin/Westinghouse design similar to the EP5. The locos were destined for passenger service as well as freight service. In 1976 there was a renovation program where the electrical and mechanical components were modified. The first renovated loco, the 1216, was delivered by Revisiebedrijf Tilburg in 1979.
The main changes in the cab and engine rooms were as follows:

New gauges panel, redesigned to be more ergonomically acceptable.
The original two-part sliding drivers windows were replaced with one-part sliding items.
Foot warmers (!)
Sunshields added to the front windows.
An improved dead-man's footplate.
A new low-voltage panel in cab 2.
A completely revised airfiltering system.

The Class 1200 is available in 7 different colour schemes in it's original form (v1.x). In the new Superscale format (v2.x), it's currently only available as the first three colour schemes shown. The rest are being worked on.

NS1200 This is the familiar grey and yellow colour scheme. 1200s wearing these colours were seen all over the NS network for years before their eventual retirement to private ownership and companies. NS1200 VOS ACTS, a standalone railfreight company, now own several of the Class 1200s. This one is painted in the VOS Logistics colour scheme.
